Gypsum Plasters

Gypsum Plasters

Gypsum based plaster is normally referred to as pre-mixed dry mortar which mainly contains gypsum as a binder.
Plastering gypsum mortar is a newer, more environmentally friendly, and more economical product to be promoted by the country instead of cement mortar. It not only has the strength of cement, but is also healthier, environmentally friendly, durable, and has strong adhesion, not easy to powder, and not easy to pulverize. The advantages of cracking, no hollowing, no powder drop, etc., easy to use and cost-saving.

Gypsum-Plasters

● Gypsum Machine Plaster
Gypsum Machine Plaster is used when working on large walls.
The thickness of the layer is normally 1 to 2cm. By using plastering machines, GMP helps to save working time and cost.
GMP is popular primarily in Western Europe. Recently, using lightweight mortar for gypsum machine plaster is becoming increasingly popular due to its provision of convenient working condition and thermal insulation effect.
cellulose ether is essential in this application as it provides unique properties such as pumpability, workability, sag resistance, water retention etc.

● Gypsum Hand Plaster
Gypsum Hand Plaster is used for work inside the building.
It is a suitable application for small and delicate construction sites due to its extensive use of manpower. Thickness of this applied layer is normally 1 to 2cm, similar to GMP.
cellulose ether provides good workability while securing stronger adhesion power between plaster and wall.
● Gypsum Filler/Joint Filler
Gypsum Filler or Joint Filler is a dry mixed mortar that is used to fill the joints between wall boards.
Gypsum filler consists of hemihydrate gypsum as a binder, some fillers and additives.
In this application, cellulose ether provides strong tape adhesion power, easy workability, and high water retention etc.
● Gypsum Adhesive
Gypsum adhesive is used to attach gypsum plasterboard and cornice to masonry wall vertically. Gypsum adhesive is also used in laying gypsum blocks or panel and filling gaps between blocks.
Because fine hemihydrate gypsum is the main raw material, gypsum adhesive forms durable and powerful joints with strong adhesion.
The primary function of cellulose ether in gypsum adhesive is to prevent material separation and to improve adhesion and bonding. Also cellulose ether helps in terms of anti-lumping.
● Gypsum Finishing Plaster
Gypsum Finishing Plaster, or Gypsum Thin Layer Plaster, is used to provide good leveling and smoother surface to the wall.
The layer thickness is generally 2 to 5 mm.
In this application, cellulose ether plays a vital role in improving workability, adhesion strength and water retention.

KimaCell cellulose ether products HPMC/MHEC can improve by the following properties in Gypsum Plasters :
·Provide suitable consistency, excellent workability, and good plasticity
·Ensure the proper open time of the mortar
·Improve the cohesion of the mortar and its adhesion to the base material
·Improve sag-resistance and water retention
